The application of titanium rod in chemical industry

In the last century, when the titanium was smelting, the output was only 2 tons. Due to the maturity of the technology, the production of titanium has been greatly improved. The hardness of titanium plate is almost same to steel, but it is only half of the weight of steel, although it is a little heavier than aluminum, it is twice the hardness of aluminum. Now, in space applications, a large number of titanium replaced iron and steel. According to statistics, at present, the world's annual titanium used for the navigation of the universe has reached more than one thousand tons. So titanium is known as the universe metal, space metal.

The heat resistance of titanium rod is very good, the melting point is as high as 1725℃. At room temperature, titanium is not be corroded in all kinds of strong acid and alkali, even the aqua regia, it cannot be corroded. Because of the corrosion resistance of titanium, it is often used in the chemical industry. In the past, the components with hot nitric acid in the chemical reactor are made of stainless steel. Stainless steel can not resist the strong corrosive agent - hot nitric acid, every six months, most parts will be replaced. Now, using  titanium to make these parts, although the cost is more expensive than the stainless steel parts, it can be used for five years to 10 years, so as to reduce the cost.
