Titanium properties and applications are as followings:

Small density, high specific strength

The density of titanium is 57% of that of iron. So titanium can be applied in dental department.

Low modulus of elasticity

At normal temperature, the modulus of elasticity of titanium is 57% of that of steel. This explains that compressive strain ability of titanium is lower than that of steel, so under external pressure, stability of compressive bar, deflection deformation and other conditions, titanium applications will be restricted and titanium is not suitable to be used as steel components. But titanium is beneficial to elastic elements. Titanium is suitable to be applied to produce titanium clasp.

Titanium has no magnetic property and has no toxicity

Titanium is one nonmagnetic metal and will not be magnetized in a large magnetic field. This characteristic makes titanium be used in magnetron devices. Naval vessels’ shell made from titanium can avoid explosion of magnetic mine; titanium bone, titanium pacemaker are not affected by the thunderstorm weather. Titanium is non-toxic and has excellent compatibility with human tissue and blood, therefore, titanium is an ideal biological material.

Anti damping property

Compared with steel, copper, titanium has longer vibration damping time after getting mechanical vibration and electric oscillation. By using this property, titanium can be applied to produce tuning fork, vibrating elements of ultrasonic lithotrite and vibration film of senior audio speakers.
