What are differences between hot and cold rolling titanium plates?

Carbon content in hot rolling titanium plates is slightly higher than that of cold rolling titanium plates. The densities of hot rolling titanium plate and cold rolling titanium plate are the same with similar compositions.

Hot rolling titanium plates only has good ductility and also suffer pressure effect.
Hot rolling titanium plates have low hardness and good ductility.

Hot rolling titanium plates are easy to be processed.
Cold rolling has high hardness, while the processing is relatively difficult, but cold rolling titanium plates are not easy to deform and has high intensity. The intensity of hot rolling titanium plates is relatively low. The surface of hot rolling titanium plates is not good (have oxidation and low smoothness). However, hot rolling titanium plates have good plasticity. Hot rolling titanium plates usually have moderate thickness. Cold rolling titanium plates is featured by high strength, high hardness, high surface smoothness. Cold rolling titanium plates are usually thin and can be used as plates for stamping.

The production processes of hot rolling titanium plates and cold rolling titanium plates are not the same. Hot rolling titanium plates are rolled in high temperature, while cold rolling titanium plates are rolled at room temperature. Generally speaking, cold rolling titanium plates have very good strength and hot rolled titanium plates have good ductility. Usually the thickness of cold rolling titanium plates is thinner and hot rolling titanium plates can have greater thickness. The surface quality, appearance and  dimensional accuracy of cold rolled titanium plates are better than those of hot rolled titanium plates. The thickness of cold rolled titanium plated can be rolled thin to about 0.18mm, so cold rolled titanium plates are more popular.
