The selection of reducing agent of titanium rod

Titanium rod has good physical and chemical properties, such as low density, light weight, no magnetic, high strength, good corrosion resistance, it also has good mechanical properties and welding performance. Titanium bars are widely used in chemical equipment, seawater desalination, marine parts and components, electroplating industry, etc.. The corrosion resistance of titanium is 10 times as much as that of stainless steel. Titanium metal is a kind of metal which has the low rejection to the body. So the medical titanium rod processing parts are widely used in human body implants and medical devices.
The reduction activity of various reducing agents in the titanium iron ore is decreased in the following order: charcoal, anthracite, petroleum coke, metallurgical coke. The activity of charcoal is high, and it can get a greater resistance, but the price is expensive and not easy to use. Petroleum coke has higher carbon content, low ash, but the activity is low, the price is expensive, it is not the ideal reducing agent, it is only used in small scale production of high quality titanium slag. Domestic and international practice shows that anthracite is suitable reductant to smelt high titanium slag , it contains higher carbon content and activity, and it has low price and reliable source.
In principle, all carbon materials, such as coal, petroleum coke, metallurgical coke, charcoal and graphite powder can be used as reducing agent to smelt high titanium slag.
