What is the situation of China’s titanium industry?

Since 1950s, China began to study titanium. In 1958, sponge titanium production workshop was founded in Fushun, Liaoning. In 1960, the first titanium processing workshop was founded in Shenyang, Liaoning. Titanium began to be used in aviation industry in 1964. The titanium output was 1000 tons in 1985 and 2000 tons in 1990s. To 2001, China’s sponge titanium production was 2500 tons and titanium production approached to 4000 tons.

After 55 years of development, China’s titanium industry has formed two complete industrial systems: mineral smelting-processing-parts and equipment manufacturing, titanium study-design-production-application. China has become one important titanium production country in the world.
